Cybersecurity – not just for our corporate counterparts
Stephen Mally Cybersecurity, Hacked, Hacking, Website
It is interesting to read that the Trump fundraising website was hacked this last week. The FundraisingForce website was also hacked around the same time.
Our hacking could not have been worse timing for FundraisingForce – opening day of the largest fundraising conference in Australia. Hackers hacked our search engine optimisation (SEO), resulting in the normal FundraisingForce services being replaced with some “colourful” pornographic-type language in various search engines.
The good news? The Trump site hacking was more destructive than the FundraisingForce experience. The hackers did not take over the FundraisingForce actual site, but they did place malicious code on the business website. The site has now been cleaned thanks to the good work of NobleCX. Our site will soon be re-indexed by the likes of Google.
Every virus and hacking experience is a learning opportunity for all. Check your cyber security so your non-profit organisation is not the victim of such an attack.
